First, a question. In Daniel 9:24-27, the seventy weeks prophecy is given. At the end of 69 weeks (Nehemiah 2:1), Christ presented Himself on 10 Nisan, 32 AD per Exodus 12:3 as the Jewish Messiah (Luke 19:37-40). We have been in a parenthesis of time since then waiting for the final or seventieth week of Daniel to begin. What is the parenthesis? To be answered later in this paper.
In our so-called enlightened age, we believe the earth is billions of years old. For most of the last two thousand years, Christians believed the earth was measured in thousands of years. In 1830, Charles Lyell of Great Britain published Principles of Geology in which he stated the earth had to be far older than that. He noted in areas where one could see the layers of sediment, such as a cut through a hill, that there were tens of thousands of layers of sediment, and he theorized that each layer represented a year of earth’s history. Since it would be difficult to get more than ten thousand years out of the Bible (My belief is about six thousand years.), the earth had to be far older than what is represented in its pages. Charles Darwin took his book with him to the Galapagos Islands in the 1830s and published his theory on evolution in 1859- The Origin of Species, which required vast ages to be true. In the 1990s, a Frenchman Guy Berthault realized that Lyell’s conjecture had never been experimentally proved, so he went to Colorado State University on the Front Range of Colorado to a state-of-the-art hydraulics lab, where he dumped sediment into a current of water which had transparent sides. He got multiple layers in a current, which he documented with a video- Experiments in Sedimentation. The vast ages of Lyell were a misinterpretation of the facts. They were not representative of vast ages, but were laid down by the Great Flood circa 1656 years after Creation. They also have occurred after subsequent floods. This was published as Fundamental Experiments in Sedimentation by Pierre Julien and Guy Berthault by The Geologic Society of France in 1993. Other experiments by Guy Berthault were published by the French Academy of Science in 1986 and 1988, also the Geologic Society of France in 1993. With the current he got multiple layers of sediment, meaning the multiple layers of sediment were not caused by one layer annually but by the Great Flood that Noah and his family survived. An astronomer has suggested the speed of light is decreasing which would explain the huge distances between the stars and the sun, i.e., millions of light years. In other words, when Adam and Eve sinned, the speed of light began to decrease, and has continued to decrease since then.
In Revelation 20, Christ’s millennium is noted six times. Why will Christ reign for a millennium? Because His millennium is the Shabot or Sabbath of a week with each day representing one thousand years. The week begins with Creation.
Bishop James Ussher, a 17th century Anglican cleric and Bible scholar, wrote in The Annals of the World, published in 1650, that the earth was created on October 23, 4004 BC. This was Christendom’s standard for over two centuries thereafter. Scientists estimate the age of the earth at about 4.54 billion years old per asking Google the question on the internet. The Biblical record of Adam’s line would indicate a much shorter period of time for the age of the Earth. Indeed, assuming a 6- day creation followed by a day of rest produces the following calculations from the Bible per Genesis 5:
Person Name’s Meaning Age
Adam Man 130 (when Seth born)
Seth Appointed 105 (when Enosh born)
Enosh Mortal 90 and so on
Cainan Sorrow 70
Mahalalel The Blessed God 65
Jared Shall come down 162
Enoch Teaching 65
Methusaleh His death shall bring 187
Lamech The despairing 182
Noah Comfort, rest 600 (Gen. 7:11)
Totals Flood 1656 A.C. (After Creation)
1656 A.C. presumes that they were born precisely on their father’s birthday through 10 generations. Some have suggested it would be more accurate to add a half year for each generation to make the totals more statistically accurate. Perhaps.
The middle column above is the translation of the meanings of the names of Adam’s line. The sentences they make I find fascinating.
Shem begot Arphaxad 2 years after the flood (Genesis 11:10). I presume from its beginning.
2
Arphaxad 35
Salah 30
Eber 34
Peleg 30
Reu 32
Serug 30
Nahor 29
Total 222
1656 + 222 = 1878 A.C. date of birth of Terah (again presuming each son is born on his father’s birthday, which seems unlikely).
Per Genesis 11:26 Now Terah lived 70 years and begot Abram, Nahor, and Haran. In the Bible, the eldest is usually presented first, or were these triplets with 1948 A.C.(After Creation) representing the birth of Abram? Jasher is a history book of Creation to the children of Israel’s conquest of Canaan. It is not felt to be inspired. Nevertheless, it is listed twice in the Bible per Joshua 10:13 and 2 Samuel 1:18, and has much more information than the Bible over this time period. Per Jasher, Haran was 32 when Abram was born (Jasher 12:16) and died in the fire at age 82 (Jasher 12:37), so they weren’t triplets. Nahor and Haran were born when Terah was 38 per Jasher.
Genesis 11:32 So the days of Terah were 205 years, and Terah died in Haran. (named after son Haran?)
Genesis 12:4 And Abram was 75 years old when he departed Haran.
Acts 7:4 (Stephen’s address) Then he (Abraham) came out of the land of the Chaldeans and dwelt in Haran. And from there, when his father was dead, He (God) moved him to this land in which you now dwell.
I take the above to mean that Abram was neither a triplet nor the eldest son, i.e., he was born when Terah was 130 (205 – 75 = 130). However, the history book of Jasher (8:51) relates Terah was 70 when Abram was born. I believe 130 is the correct number as previously noted, though others believe 70 is the correct number, meaning Abram was born in 1948 AC, the same year Israel was reborn AD (Anno Domini).
Numbers have meanings in the Bible. 7 means complete. 6 is the number for man, not quite complete. 8 means a new beginning. The Jews had a numerical system based on 7. After a week of 7 years, the 8th began- the new beginning. There were 8 persons on the ark to begin the earth anew (Genesis 7:13). In Judaism, a baby boy is circumcised on the 8th day (Genesis 17:12). Could it be on the 8th year of the third millennium (birth of Terah in 1878 A.C. + Terah 130 years old when Abram born = 2008 A.C. [After Creation]), God started the earth anew through the birth of Abraham?
According to my Bible, in a note that is not in the original text, Solomon began to reign in 970 B.C. According to the internet- Ancient History Encyclopedia, Solomon died in 931 BC. The Cookeville Herald Citizen circa March-April 2002 ran a blurb stating the last year of Solomon’s reign was felt by the scholars to be 931 or 930 B.C. Solomon reigned 40 years, meaning his reign began in 971 or 970 B.C. If 971 began Solomon’s reign, then the fourth year would be about 967 B.C.; if 970 B.C., then about 966 B.C.
Then consider:
1 Kings 6:1 And it came to pass in the 480th year after the children of Israel had come out of the land of Egypt, in the 4th year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv, which is the 2nd month, that he began to build the house of the LORD.
The 4th year of Solomon’s reign = 967 B.C. approximately
+ 480
Date of Exodus, Passover 14 Nisan 1447 B.C. approximate year
Then consider Exodus 12:40 in my New King James- Now the sojourn of the children of Israel who lived in Egypt was 430 years. 41 And it came to pass that at the end of 430 years- on that very same day (14 Nisan) – it came to pass that all the armies of God went out from the land of Egypt.
I had originally thought this meant the time the children of Israel had been in Egypt (per Genesis 47:28 And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt 17 years [after entering from Canaan, with 413 years before the Exodus?]. So the length of Jacob’s life was 147 years.) However, the ancient history book of Jasher notes the children of Israel were only in Egypt 210 years. Josephus who wrote in the late first century AD related Israel was only in Egypt 215 years. In The International Jerusalem Post, #3267, Jan.19-25, 2024, p.28, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz related that the “sages and Torah commentators” say 430 is incorrect. “According to their calculations, the children of Israel were only in Egypt 210 years.” And the Septuagint translation of the Old Testament in Greek, completed about 270 B.C., has listed the above portion of the Exodus 12:40 underlined as a mistranslation. Egypt in Exodus 12:40, underlined in the paragraph above, actually is written as Egypt and the land of Canaan was 430 years in the Septuagint. If this is so, what is the event that happened 430 years earlier on the 14th of Nisan in Canaan that would become Passover circa 1447 BC in Canaan?
And what about the end of verse 12:40 on that very same day? The end of the 430 years was on the first Passover, which was Nisan 14 on the Hebrew calendar. This period began on Nisan 14, 430 years earlier, but there is nothing on such a date on Jacob entering Egypt per Genesis 46 & 47, but, according to Mark Biltz’s, Blood Moons, 2014, p. 37, Nisan 14 is significant as Isaac’s birthday.
On to Galatians 3:16-17 Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed, who is Christ.
17 And this I say, that the law, which was 430 years later cannot annul the covenant that was confirmed before by God in Christ, that it should make the promise of no effect.
Now Christ was sacrificed almost 1500 years after the law (Ten Commandments), not 430 years before, so what is Paul writing about? This indicates to me that the confirmation can only be Isaac placed on the altar for sacrifice, the Akedah (Akeida) or binding of Isaac, per Genesis 22, when God confirmed His covenant with Abraham. Some Jews believe that the Akedah was on the Hebrew Feast of Trumpets or the Feast of Tabernacles, while others believe it was in the month of Nisan. Likewise, David was born and died on the Feast of Weeks. Isaac was born on Nisan 14, what, subsequently, became Passover. I had believed the Akedah was done on 14 Nisan on the Hebrew calendar 430 years before Passover, or per Exodus 12:41 … on that very same day…, when God confirmed His covenant with Abraham per Genesis 22:15-18.
Consider the similarities between the crucifixion and Isaac on the altar in Genesis 22:
1. The site of the crucifixion and the site of Isaac on the altar are supposedly the same location outside Jerusalem. Some say the Temple Mount, but recent evidence points to outside the old city of David, which I believe is outside the present walls, built in 1517 AD, of Jerusalem. Grant R. Jeffrey in Armageddon: Appointment with Destiny, 1997, 75, relates that one year after the Temple was burned, the Romans plowed with salt the Temple Mount and the city on the ninth of Av, fulfilling Micah 3:12 Therefore because of you Zion shall be plowed like a field, Jerusalem shall become heaps of ruins, and the mountain of the temple like the bare hills of the forest. To me, this verse does not leave much room for the Temple Mount with its blocks of stone being the location of the Temple. See also Golgotha: Searching for the True Location of Christ’s Crucifixion by Robert Cornuke, 2016, and Cornuke’s later book, Temple: Amazing New Discoveries that Change Everything About the Location of Solomon’s Temple, 2017.
2. Verse 3- Abraham took 2 young men with him as there were two young men on adjacent crosses next to Christ.
3. verse 4- Abraham traveled for 3 days. During those 3 days, Abraham considered his son dead according to the rabbis. Christ was resurrected the third day.
4. verse 6- The wood for the offering was laid on Isaac to carry to the place of sacrifice as Christ also carried His cross of wood.
5. verse 8- When asked by Isaac where the lamb was for a burnt offering, Abraham replied, “God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” And God did, about 2,000 years later in Christ, though He also provided a ram in place of Isaac. The Lamb would come later.
6. verse 9- Abraham laid Isaac on the wood of the altar, as Christ was laid on the cross and then nailed to it.
7. verse 5- As the LORD had earlier promised Isaac seed or offspring in Genesis 21:12, Abraham expected God to resurrect his son Isaac (Hebrews 11:19), as He did with Christ later, even if Isaac were a burnt offering. In verse 5, Abraham told his young men that he and Isaac would worship and then both would come back to them.
8. verse 19 – Abraham left the place of sacrifice with his two young men, but where is Isaac? Undoubtably, all four left together, but nothing is said about Isaac until he meets his bride in Genesis 24:62. Christ remained on the earth after the crucifixion for 40 days, but He has now been gone almost 2,000 years. Soon, He will return for His bride.
9. Isaac was born on Nisan 14, that later became the month and day of Passover. David, whose kingdom was in the middle of the 6,000 years and who took Jerusalem in 1003 BC, was also born on the Feast of Weeks, curiously, the middle of the Mosaic feasts. At the age of seventy years, David died on the Feast of Weeks by Jewish tradition. Apparently, it was an honor from God to die on the same calendar day that you were born. Isaac was saved from sacrifice or reborn on his birthday.
10. It has been written that the first use of a word is very important in the Bible. Per Genesis 22:2 Then He said, “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you. Love is used for the first time here in the Bible in the context of a father offering his son as a sacrifice, a Father offering His Son.
Though this was the confirmation of the covenant, the promises were earlier.
Other verses of interest:
Genesis 15:13 Then He (God) said to Abram: “Know certainly that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs (NOTE: I presume this refers to Canaan and Egypt. Of course, no land was theirs until God gave them the land of Canaan, and this required the nation of Israel, founded in Exodus.), and will serve them, and they will afflict them for 400 years. And also the nation they serve I will judge; afterward they shall come out with great possessions. Now as for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried at a good old age. But in the 4th generation, they shall return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.“
If they were in Egypt 430 years, it seems strange they returned in the 4th generation to Canaan.
In Genesis 50:23, we are told Joseph saw Ephraim’s children to the third generation. Ephraim was born to Joseph as his second child at age circa 31 to 37 per Genesis 41:46, 50-53 (Per Jasher 50:15, Ephraim and Manasseh were twins born to Joseph when he was 34.) He saw Ephraim’s children to the third generation, and he died per Genesis 50:26 at the age of 110, 73 to 79 years after Ephraim’s birth (Genesis 41:50). Hence, it seems likely to me that the children of Israel were in Egypt considerably less than 430 years. At the end of the first century AD, Josephus wrote they were in Egypt about 215 years. According to the book of Jasher, Israel was in Egypt only 210 years. I presume the 400 years, noted above, is an approximation of the time in Egypt and Canaan.
Acts 7:6 (Stephen’s address) But God spoke in this way that his (Abraham’s) descendants would dwell in a foreign land (NOTE: Again I presume this refers to Canaan and Egypt), and they would bring them into bondage and oppress them 430 years.
Exodus 1447 B.C.
+ 430 years
Isaac on altar 1877 B.C.
I had believed this, but the numbers don’t work, presuming either Jasher, or the late 1st century AD Jewish historian Josephus is correct. Jasher (81:3)relates Israel spent 210 years in slavery in Egypt; Josephus 215, so we have an additional 215 to 220 years to account for. But Jacob entered Egypt at the age of 130 per Genesis 47:9, and Isaac was 60 when Jacob was born, giving us only 190 years or a deficit of 25 to 30 years to account for.
Galatians 3:16 Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed,” who is Christ. 17 And this I say, that the law, which was 430 years later, cannot annul the covenant that was confirmed before by God in Christ, that it should make the promise of no effect.
Now, if Abram was born 2008 A.C. (after creation) and if Isaac were born when Abraham was 100 per Genesis 21:5, then an additional 25 years would take us back to Abram being 75 when he departed from Haran for Canaan. When he arrived in Canaan with Lot in Genesis 12:7 God appeared to him briefly, to give this promise, “To your descendants, I will give this land.”
Earlier in Genesis 12:3: Now the LORD had said to Abram: Get out of your country, from your family, and from your father’s house to a land that I will show you. 2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse those who curse you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.
Per Stephen’s speech in Acts 7:2 …The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran, 3 and said to him, “Get out of your country and from your relatives, and come to a land that I will show you.”
Abram was told to get out of his country, which he did, but also from his relatives. However, he went with his father Terah, and his brother Haran’s son Lot from Mesopotamia. His father had saved him from Nimrod when he was a baby, and Haran had died in Nimrod’s furnace per Jasher, while Abram had survived. It was natural for them to go with him, but Abram was not following God’s instruction when he allowed it, which was likely why God appeared to Abram so briefly in Genesis 12:7 To your descendants I will give this land. It was the first time God specifically promised Abram land for his offspring in the Bible.
Per Jasher, Abram went with his father and nephew, Lot, to Haran from Mesopotamia, but at the age of 55, the LORD commanded him to leave for Canaan per Jasher 13:3-5. He did so without his father or Lot. When Abram arrived in Canaan, God again confirmed His earlier promise. At the age of 70, after 15 years in Canaan, God again confirmed His promise per Jasher 13:17. Abram then left for Haran to visit his father and family and dwelt there for five years. At age 75, he returned to the land of Canaan, but with his nephew Lot, though God had previously told him to leave his father’s house. God appeared to Abram saying, “To your descendants I will give this land,” per Genesis 12:7.
Later, after Lot had left him, in Genesis 15, Abram was told to cut three animals in two, down the middle, and kill two birds. It was the custom when making a blood covenant for the two persons making the covenant to lock arms and walk between the pieces, saying words to the effect that if either broke the covenant, may what happened to the sacrifices happen to them. This was an early appearance of the Trinity as a smoking oven (God the Father) and a burning torch (the Holy Spirit) went between the dead bodies (Christ). Abram did not walk between the pieces, but was asleep while this occurred, meaning whatever he or his descendants did, God would keep this covenant. The covenant was confirmed with the offering of Isaac, but the promise was earlier.
God related that Abram’s descendants would be strangers in a land that was not theirs, and that they would serve them and afflict them 400 years. This referred to Egypt and Canaan. They would come out of the land they served with great possessions. In the fourth generation they would return to Canaan, and God would give their descendants the land from the river of Egypt to the Euphrates River, presently inhabited by the sons of Canaan, and the Rephaim (Nephilim). The timing of this is not clear, but in the next chapter 16:3, that Abram went into Hagar after ten years in Canaan, i.e., he was 85.
Assuming Abram was 75 when the 430 years of Exodus 12:40-41 began:
Creation 3,960 B.C.
Flood 2304 B.C.
God starts over Birth of Abram 1952 B.C. (Gen 11:26,32; 12:4, Acts 7:4)
430 years begin 1877 B.C.(Abram 75-Ex 12:40,41; Gal 3:16,17)
Isaac born 1852 B.C.
Exodus 1447 B.C.
David takes Jerusalem, becomes king of Israel & Judah 1003 B.C.
Solomon becomes king Circa 971 BC
Temple completed Circa 960 BC
Birth of Christ 6 to 1 B.C., likely autumn 2 B.C.
Resurrection of Christ 32 or 33 A.D. (Birth of church)
Present Time 2026 A.D.
In other words, God has divided the first 6,000 years of history (HIStory is HIS story) into 3 roughly equal portions- Creation, Israel, and the church. Each approximates roughly 2000 years or 40 Jubilees, actually about 2008 years for Creation, about 1983 for Israel, and, at present, about 1,993 and counting. Will Daniel’s final week of seven Biblical years, each 360 days, take us to two thousand? Or perhaps a little beyond? The 50th year was the Jubilee year in Israel’s time system per Leviticus 25 & 27. In the scenario, noted above about 5,983 years have occurred by my reckoning thus far. Remember one goes from 1 BC to 1 AD. There is no year zero.
Each of the three time periods had a miracle near its beginning, and also a sacrifice. In the first period, God created Adam on the 6th day, a miracle birth of sorts, along with Eve taken from Adam’s side. Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. A little different from Michelangelo’s picture in the Sistine Chapel in Rome where an older God reaches His hand out to Adam’s hand, as seen in the opening of the 1959 movie- Ben Hur. I suspect Adam was given not only life, but also the Holy Spirit, which departed as soon as He ate the forbidden fruit.
Abram was born in about 2008 AC (After Creation). His birth symbolized a new beginning by being born on the 8th year of the second time period of about 2,000 years. Isaac was born in about 2108 AC to Abram who was a hundred years old and to Sarah, who was ninety and no longer capable of bearing per Genesis 18:11. Apparently, she was no longer menstruating, i.e., her womb was dead. Thereafter, Abraham had six sons through his new wife, after Sarah died, and more through his concubines per Genesis 25. God told Abraham to name the child Isaac meaning laughter because both Abraham per Genesis 17:17 and Sarah per Genesis 18:12 laughed at the prospect of their being parents at that stage of their lives. But with God nothing is impossible.
I had thought the third period was heralded by the virgin birth of Christ, a miracle in itself followed by the miracle of the resurrection circa 32 or 33 A.D, with all Christ’s miracles in between. However, the third time period appears to begin with the resurrection on the Jewish Feast of First Fruits and, more likely, the birth of the church on the Jewish Feast of Weeks fifty days later per Leviticus 23:16,11, rather than the birth of the Messiah. The second time period of two thousand years ended about the time of the death of John the Baptist per Matthew 11:13 “For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.” Also confirmed in Luke 16:16 “The law and the prophets were until John.” Remember in Daniel 9:24-27, there appears to be a parenthesis between the appearance of the Messiah at the end of 69 weeks in 32 or 33 AD and the final or 70th week. That parenthesis is the church age.
With regard to sacrifices, the world of Creation had no carnivorous animals, as will Christ’s millennium per Isaiah 11:6-9. The first animal death in that world of Creation was the one killed by the LORD to provide Adam and Eve tunics of skin per Genesis 3:21 to clothe them. It seems they were most likely lambs. This was also the first sacrifice to God. In Genesis 1:29-30, God tells us that man and all animals were originally herbivorous or plant eaters. Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned— I do not believe there were any human or animal (flesh in which is the breath of life per Genesis 7:15) deaths in the world of Creation until Adam and Eve sinned. Evolution and the vast ages require death on an industrial scale. From Hebrews 9:22…without shedding of blood, there is no remission (of sin). Leviticus 11 explains the clean animals that can be eaten, but man was only given the right to eat meat after coming off the ark per Genesis 9:3. But Noah took seven clean animals on the ark per Genesis 7:2. If they couldn’t be eaten, then why were they clean? Answer: Because they could be sacrificed to God. This went back to the animals slain by God to clothe Adam and Eve. It also puts an entirely new light on Cain and Abel. In Genesis 4:2 …Now Abel was a keeper of sheep and, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. Verse 3 And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the LORD. 4 Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the LORD respected Abel and his offering (Per the book of Jasher, fire came down from heaven for Abel’s offering, but not Cain’s), 5 but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell.
I always considered God a bit unfair. After all, Abel offered what he produced and Cain what he produced. Why would God accept one, but not the other? Answer: God established His rules with the first sacrifice. He required the shedding of blood of an innocent animal. Cain ignored His rules. Jasher 1:19 also notes that Cain, Adam’s eldest son, ate of Abel’s flock, so he also disregarded God’s directive in Genesis 1:29- 30 about being a vegetarian. Abel raised his sheep for their wool, their milk and cheese, and for sacrifice apparently.
The second time period ‘s sacrifice was the ram rather than Isaac per Genesis 22:13. And, of course, Christ was the sacrifice by crucifixion of the third time period. He was scourged or whipped because the blood had to be removed from the sacrifice to God per Exodus 12:7.
Not only was each two-thousand-year period begun with a miracle and a sacrifice, there was also a sign in the sky. Christ’s birth was heralded by a star per Matthew 2:2 which I once thought began the third two-thousand-year period. I believe the true sign was a blood moon on Nisan 14, day of His crucifixion in either 32 or 33 AD, with a total lunar eclipse in the former and a partial lunar eclipse in the latter date per Mark Biltz in Blood Moons: Decoding the Heavenly Signs, 2014, p.147. As a Jewish day goes sunset to sunset, the eclipse was likely seen just before or just after Christ was taken as a prisoner from the Mount of Olives, the day of His crucifixion. Likely His birth and the sign of it had been given to Daniel. This was passed on to the Magi from about six centuries or so earlier. Jasher 8:2 notes that the birth of Abraham was also heralded by a star from the east which ran in the heavens and devoured four other stars from the four sides of heaven. Adam and Eve were created on the sixth day, but the stars, planets, and such were created on the fourth day, another foreshadowing.
Now add 2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the LORD one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. New Testament
This is confirmed in Psalm 90:4 For a thousand years in Your sight are like yesterday when it is past, and like a watch in the night. Old Testament
I have been told these verses mean a large period of time is nothing to the LORD even to millions or billions of years. Perhaps? But what if the LORD means what He says, and He is talking about a week. What if these days make up a week of seven days with each day approximately a thousand years? And the Sabbath of that week is Christ’s reign of 1000 years. This is what the Hebrews concluded almost 3500 years ago from Psalm 90:4 alone, but we have the other verses as noted.
Revelation 20:4 And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. In Revelation 20, Christ’s millennium of a thousand years is referred to 6 times.
Now on to Hebrews 3:7 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says
Today, if you will hear His voice
8 Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion,
In the day of trial in the wilderness,
9 Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me,
And saw My works 40 years.
10 Therefore I was angry with that generation,
And said, “They always go astray in their heart,
And they have not known My ways
11 So I swore in My wrath,
“They shall not enter My rest.”
Hebrews 3:12 Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God, 13 but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, 15 while it is said:
“Today, if you will hear His voice,
Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”
16 For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? 19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
Hebrews 4:1 Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. 2 For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them, but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. 3 For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said:
“So I swore in My wrath,
They shall not enter My rest,”
although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4 For He has spoken in a certain place of the 7th day in this way: “And God rested on the 7th day from all His works”; 5 and again in this place: “They shall not enter My rest.” (NOTE: Is the 7th day and My rest both a reference to Christ’s millennial reign? I believe it is!)
6 Since therefore it remains that some must enter it, and those to whom it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience, 7 again He designates a certain day, saying in David, “Today,” after such a long time, as it has been said:
“Today, if you will hear His voice,
Do not harden your hearts.”
4:8 For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day. 9 There remains a rest for the people of God. 10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. 11 Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.
Does the above mean that God has broken HIStory into 3 parts? After all, the LORD does like the number 3.
1. 6,000 years approximately
2. 7 years – the final week of Daniel (9:27) = 7 Biblical years (360 days per year)
3. 1,000 years -Christ’s millennium (Revelation 20) God’s rest, His Sabbath for His people
4. Eternity
Or, perhaps, it should be 1. About 6,000 years ending with the final week of Daniel’s 7 Biblical years
2. Christ’s millennium
3. Eternity
Is there any other evidence to confirm the above projections? Try Matthew’s parable of the ten virgins in the 25th chapter. When did the cry arise that the bridegroom was coming? Per verse 25:6 – at midnight. Also remember that per Psalm 90:4 A thousand years are like yesterday to the LORD, yea like a watch in the night. Per Matthew 14:25 Jesus walked on the Sea of Galilee during the 4th watch with a note in my Bible that this was between 3 and 6 AM. Midnight would be the end of the second watch and the beginning of the third, or comparably the end of the second thousand years and the beginning of the third after His resurrection, when He had paid the bridal price.
Per Luke 13:32 And He (Jesus) said to them, “Go, tell that fox (Herod), ‘Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.’” I had always understood this to refer to His resurrection. Does it have a double meaning? Does it also refer to the beginning of the third millennium starting with his crucifixion. 2032 Anno Domini is the 2,000th anniversary of the crucifixion, though others believe it was 2033. To meet 2032, Daniel’s 70th week (Daniel 9:27) would have to begin by about January of 2026, and a year later for 2033.
Genesis 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die. Genesis 5:5 So all the days that Adam lived were 930 years; and he died.
He died in less than a thousand years, or a day to the LORD per 2 Peter 3:8 and Psalm 90:4.
Hebrews 1:1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, Has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;
In these last days refers to the third and last 2,000 year period of the week’s 6,000- the church.
Matthew 17:1 Now after six days (1000 years each) Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves;
2 and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.
3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him.
After about 6,000 years of Earth’s history, Christ will appear to rapture His church. Then two witnesses will appear per Revelation 11. One is Elijah from Malachi 4:5. Per Revelation 11:6, one does the miracles of Moses. The other candidate for the second witness is Enoch, For many years, I believed Enoch was the second witness. After all, he never died. Per Genesis 5:24 … God took him. Hebrews 9:27 And it is appointed for men to die once and then the judgement. However, Enoch was the model for the rapture though he was taken almost seven hundred years before the Flood occurred. Remember men often lived to be 900 plus, with the oldest being Methuselah at 969 years per Genesis 5:27. Enoch was taken out before the Flood. Noah and his seven passengers went through the Flood. Everyone else perished. Remember the body of Christ is one, and they will be removed before the wrath of God, the Great Tribulation. Hence, there will be millions, perhaps in the ten millions, or even more, who never die. I prefer Moses as the second witness with Moses the law and Elijah the prophets. Per Matthew 17:11 Jesus answered and said to them, “Indeed Elijah is coming first and will restore all things.” Restore all things? Elijah is coming to die after 1260 days. What is he going to restore? Answer: all Israel per Ezekiel 37:16-22. Elijah, with Moses, is not only going to bring all the Jews back to the land of Israel, but also all the lost tribes that the Assyrians carried away in 732 and 722 BC. They were not lost to God.
DAYS Of CREATION AND THE MILLENNIA
Day 1- God created light and separated the light from the darkness. The light was good. God is Light.
Millennium 1- Adam and Eve were given one law: Do not eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. However, Eve was deceived by the serpent. Adam was not deceived per 1 Timothy 2:14. I suspect he could not imagine life without her, so he ate the fruit too. He chose the darkness over the light.
I believe the earth of Creation was far different from the earth of today. I believe there was a canopy of ice (Genesis 1:6,7) above the earth which filtered out some rays of the sun that age us. Hence, they lived much longer than we do. The canopy came down because of one meteor or many perforating it. One meteor probably created the huge crater off the coast of southern Mexico in the Yucatan, which many scientists believe ended the age of dinosaurs, but there could have been many others at the same time. The meteors also fractured the earth’s surface opening the fountains of the deep.
The earth was originally designed for man. I have been to many of the states in the USA, to include Hawaii, and Europe. There are no places where I would be comfortable throughout the year naked, yet Adam and Eve were. I believe the temperature under the canopy was tightly controlled allowing there to be dinosaurs in Antarctica, where their bones have been found, and pyramids have also been found suggesting humans also. Only the high mountains had snow or ice. Were there seasons? One could point me to Genesis 1:14 Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years.” It has been noted that the word for seasons in Hebrew means appointed times and refers to the Feasts of Israel and other dates on the Hebrew calendar such as the ninth of Av. Seasons could be appointed times, but the term is likely broader.
Per Genesis 2:6 but a mist went up from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground. I believe there was no rain till about 1656 AC (after Creation) when the canopy was ruptured, and the first rain fell from the sky heralding the coming Great Deluge. Genesis 7:11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. According to the Book of Jubilees, this day was chosen because it was the day and the month that Adam and Eve sinned, another appointed time? Most of the water from the Great Flood came from the fountains of the deep which are deep in the earth and believed to contain two to three times the amount of water in the oceans today, according to asking Google on the internet. I recall reading long ago a text that stated it would take five times the amount of water to cover all the present earth’s mountains by 15 cubits (Genesis 7:20) with a cubit generally considered to be about a foot and a half. However, the fracturing of the earth’s crust at the time of the Great Flood. would probably lift the mountains much higher in some places.
Scientists have discovered air bubbles in amber a plant secretion that contain 30% oxygen instead of the present atmosphere 21%. I enjoy the Jurassic Park movies, but I believe the huge animals in the movies could not exist at the same size today because of the decreased oxygen. It would not support their bulk. Juvenile dinosaurs were on Noah’s ark. They were noted in historical records as dragons. Take Behemoth in Job 40:15-24 in verse 15…he eats grass like an ox.16 See now, his strength is in his hips and his power is in his stomach muscles. 17 He moves his tail like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are tightly knit. 18 His bones are like beams of bronze, his ribs like bars of iron. I believe this is a brachiosaurus, formerly known as a brontosaurus. After the Great Deluge, the changed earth would not allow him to reach the same size.
Day 2.- God created the sky (firmament) to separate the waters from the waters. I suspect there was a canopy of water or ice over the earth, and a mist watered the earth as noted above, i.e., no rain). God did not say anything was good on this day.
Millennium 2- The world was an evil place with only Noah and his family worthy of saving from the Flood, which occurred in the second millennium comparable to the second day. Waters are where the Gentile nations came from in Daniel 7:3. Here, the beasts representing the Gentile nations came from the sea, and God separated the waters from the waters in Genesis 1:7. A few centuries after the Deluge, mankind built the Tower of Babel to get to heaven, again rebelling against God. Then, God separated the waters into 70 nations by language. No wonder nothing was good in this millennium.
Day 3 – The land appeared and God said it was good. The plants were also created, and God saw this was good. Jews call the second day, sunset Monday to sunset Tuesday, the day of double blessing. Many Jews try to get married on this day to obtain this blessing.
Millennium 3- In about the year 2008 A.C., Abram was born representing the land and Israel. About 400 years later, Moses was born who God gave the Ten Commandments and the Torah, the “plants” that we are to ingest. The fruit of the trees, with nations sometimes represented by trees as Ezekiel 31, was the kingdom of David and the early portion of Solomon’s kingdom, culminating with the completion of Solomon’s Temple.
Day 4 – God made the sun and the moon and the stars to divide the light from the darkness, and God saw that it was good.
Millennium 4- I had thought David represented the moon or reflected light of the sun, and Christ represented the Sun, bookends for this millennium, but it does not fit the time line. I suspect Solomon’s temple represented the height of the Jewish religion, and this represented the moon, occurring in the middle of my time line. Luke 16:16 and Matthew 11:13 the law and the prophets were until John (the Baptist). The birth of Christ did represent the sun towards the end of this millennium. However, the millennium ended with the beheading of John the Baptist, shortly before the resurrection, and the next millennium began with the birth of the church on the Jewish Feast of Weeks or, perhaps, with the resurrection on First Fruits fifty days earlier. The Israelites, including the Jews, are likely the stars (Deut 1:10, 10:22, 28:62), though angels have been referred to as stars, and the angels of the seven churches were given their duties with the birth of the churches (Revelation 1:20).
Day 5 – The birds were created and the great sea creatures and other sea creatures (fish, a symbol of Christians) with which the waters abounded. God saw that it was good.
Millennium 5- The great anti-Christian empires came forth to include pagan Rome, Islam and the Vikings. There were ten great persecutions in the Roman Empire, before Constantine legalized Christianity circa 313 A.D. In the year 1000 A.D. Christendom was basically Europe which was being assaulted from the north by the Vikings, from the southwest by the Islamic Moors, who controlled most of Spain, and from the southeast by the Islamic Turks. Christianity seemed to have a very uncertain future. In Matthew 13:19, the birds were Satan and his agents, perhaps the angels behind these great empires. See Daniel 10:13, 20.
Day 6 – First the night, and then the land creatures were created, followed by Adam at the end of the day. God saw that it was very good.
Millennium 6- A Jewish day begins in darkness, as it goes from sunset to sunset. In 1453, Constantinople fell to Islam, the end of the Byzantine Empire lasting over a millennium on its own, after the western Roman Empire was destroyed in 410 AD when Rome fell or in 476 AD when the last Roman legion in the west was destroyed. In 1492, Columbus discovered the New World, and the land creatures that came out of Israel through Christianity came forth to include: Venice, Portugal, Spain, Holland, the Papal states, the German states, and France. They became great powers with widespread influence. At the end of the day, Great Britain came forth along with America as great Christian world powers to represent Adam. This was the Anglo-Saxon Age of the last quarter-millennium, fulfillment of God’s promise of prosperity to Joseph in Genesis 48, 49:22- 26, and Deuteronomy 33:13-17, and God saw this was very good, at least until we forgot Him. Now, the seventieth and final week of Daniel approaches. And all of Judah and the lost tribes of Israel must return to the land of Israel.
Day 7 God rested on the seventh day. He also blessed and sanctified it.
Millennium 7- Christ’s millennium. God’s rest for His people. -Gentry
Addendum: A problem with my numbers is Acts 13:20 “After that He (God) gave them judges for about four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet.”
Sir Robert Anderson, head of Scotland Yard, answered this in his 1894 book, The Coming Prince. In 1 Kings 6:1, the Bible notes that 480 years after they came out of Egypt, they began to build the temple. If Judges was about 450 years, then you would have to add the 40 years in the wilderness, the 40 years of Saul’s reign, the 40 years of David’s reign, and the first 3 years of Solomon’s reign for a total of 123 years, making the numbers 450 plus 123 or 573 years instead of 480. How to reconcile?
“If we follow the history of Israel as detailed in the book of Judges, we shall find that for five several periods their national existence as Jehovah’s people was in abeyance. In punishment for their idolatry, God gave them up again and again, and “sold them into the hands of their enemies.” They became slaves to the king of Mesopotamia for eight years, to the king of Moab for eighteen years, to the king of Canaan for twenty years, to the Midianites for seven years, and finally to the Philistines for forty years. But the sum of 8 + 18 + 20 + 7 + 40 years is 93 years. If 93 years are deducted from 573 years, the result is 480 years. It is obvious, therefore that the 480 years of the book of Kings from the Exodus to the temple is a mystic era formed by eliminating every period during which the people were cast off by God.”
– Anderson, The Coming Prince, 1894, p.83 (Judges 3:8,14; 4:2,3; 6:1;13:1, Deut. 29:18-20)
Addendum: One of the problems for many people with the Bible is how did the inhabitants of the earth live so long and what about the dinosaurs? Most of us believe the earth has not changed very much over the ages, but this is not true? Genesis 1:6 Then God said, “Let there be a firmament (sky) in the midst of the waters and let it divide the waters from the waters.” 7 Then God made a firmament (sky), and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so.
Many presume this was the system of clouds bringing rain, but it was not. Genesis 2:5 … For the LORD God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground; 6 but a mist went up from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground. There was no rain till after the Great Flood when God said in Genesis 9:13 “I set my rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between Me and the earth.” The world before the Flood was quite different. There was a canopy of ice and, perhaps water too, about the earth. This protected man from the sun’s radiation and allowed many to live past 900 years of age, the oldest recorded being Methusaleh, dead at the age of 969. Gen 5:27
Adam and Eve were comfortable naked. I have been to Germany, Hawaii, South Carolina and the Caribbean, but I don’t believe I would have been comfortable in any of those places for very long, yet the first couple were. I suspect the whole world had narrow limits for the temperature, to include the poles where dinosaur bones and pyramids have been found. Ice was unknown save high mountains. The climate was temperate over the whole earth. I think man and the dinosaurs did quite well in Antarctica during the approximate 1656 years before the Flood. Surely, the dinosaurs would have devoured man to extinction. The evolutionists tell us God cannot be a good God because of the myriads of deaths that would have occurred over millions of years. Death would have been on an industrial scale, but that is not what the Bible says in Romans 5:12. All the land creatures were created on the sixth day of Creation, and all were herbivores. All ate plants (Genesis 1:29,30), including lions and tigers, and they will be again in Christ’s millennium per Isaiah 11:6-9. Carnivorous creatures came into being after man fell. The dinosaurs would have left man alone, until they sinned, and perhaps they did not become meat eaters till after the Flood. There is also the problem of oxygenating the great beasts in our 21% oxygen atmosphere. However, they have found air bubbles with 30% oxygen in amber (plant secretions). This was before the Flood and would solve the problem of size. They couldn’t grow so large after the Flood because they lacked the oxygen for their bodies. They became the dragons of antiquity.
The canopy was destroyed by a meteor or meteors that pierced it, and eventually, it collapsed. The poles then froze and an ice age began. They have found leaves in the mouths of mammoths that had the imprint of the teeth, and then they were quick frozen. Scientists tell us to cover the earth as the Bible requires in Genesis 7:20 would take 5 times the amount of water in the oceans today, but a few years ago, they discovered the fountains of the great deep per Genesis 7:11, deep within the earth, estimated to contain 2 to 3 times the amount of water in the present oceans. The mountains were raised higher by the meteors fracturing the crust of the earth in several places.
Job 40:15-24 describes a creature whose strength is in his hips and his power in his stomach muscles powering his tail that he moves like a cedar (tree). He has bones like beams of bronze and ribs like bars of iron. I believe it was a dinosaur, likely a brachiosaurus, what we used to call a brontosaurus. It was on the walls of Babylon with a long neck and a long tail.
The Ica stones have been reported in Ica, Peru. These are multiple stones with different dinosaurs carved on them. They were first discovered by the Spanish after the conquest of Peru circa 1530, and some were sent back to Spain in the 1500s. They have pictures of men killing and being killed by dinosaurs, and there are several different dinosaurs. One stone has a man riding a triceratops, and another a bridled brachiosaurus with the human rider holding reins, but keep in mind that after the Great Flood, they did not reach the same sizes as before as the world was different, the oxygen content of the atmosphere lower for example. I have two replicas of Ica Stones, a stegosaurus and a tyrannosaurus rex. They have circles on their bodies on the stones. How would you know they had circles unless you had seen the beasts? You can’t get that from just bones. In Glen Rose, Texas, there was a flood in a nearby river a few decades ago, which scoured the bottom of the river. When the flood had receded, afterwards, there were found footprints of a dinosaur and a man with sometimes a man’s footprint within the dinosaur footprint. I remember seeing a picture of a stegosaurus in Cambodia, carved in stone, in ruins dating back several centuries..
Genesis 2:10 A river went out of the garden of Eden and became 4 great rivers. Where does that happen today? The whole system was different.
